The story of Mount Carmel School, Chandrapur, begins in the year 1969. At the invitation of Bishop Januarius, the Sisters of St. Joseph, popularly known as the CMC Sisters, arrived from the Trissur province to establish a school in the land of Chandrapur, Maharashtra. Their mission was to bring quality education to the region, particularly focusing on English medium instruction.

The Early Years

The sisters initially set up their school in Suchak Nivas, a temporary location. He was very gracious enough to accommodate the sisters in his house and the humble beginnings of mount Carmel was from Suchak Nivas. The pioneers were Sr.Modesta, Sr.Dhamshene,Sr.Didimus and Sr.Nilus. Their vision, however, was to have a permanent campus. Recognizing this, they purchased land from C.G. Patel, laying the foundation for the future Mount Carmel School. The sisters were heartened by the overwhelming support they received from the local community.

Building a Legacy

Constructing the school building was no small feat. Mother Modesta, Sister Theophilus, and other dedicated sisters took significant risks to ensure the project's success. Their perseverance and faith were instrumental in bringing their vision to fruition. In 1972, the school shifted to its new premises, a perfect sign of their hard work and determination.
